13 May 2016: Early Years Master Class with Roberto Frabetti

13-15 May 2016: Early Years Master Class with Roberto Frabetti
Details

ASSITEJ India is happy to announce a master class on early years theatre in collaboration with Gillo Theatre Repertory by Roberto Frabetti of La Baracca, Bologna, Italy in Mumbai from 13th May to 15th May 2016.

Telling with Your Eyes
For actors, body and voice are two essential elements. Then, there are our eyes. Our eyes help us see something that is not there, but that has to become visible when, in the theatre, imageries come together. Our eyes create new bridges to cross, help us tell we are open and available, they establish a link, a relationship...a deep and strong one, however fleeting or temporary. Eyes underline things and guide us to see what happens, to recognise and share the details and cores of movement and images. Working on the way we use our eyes is crucial for actors, and vital when we are face to face with an audience of very young children.

A practical Master class on La Baracca’s thirty-year work of research on theatre for early years.

About the Facilitator
Roberto Frabetti is a pioneer in Early Years Theatre. He is the creative head of La Baracca-Testony Ragazzi in the city of Bologna, Italy. His theatre has created a hub for tiny tots from nursery schools, involving parents, teachers and theatre professionals from all over the world.

About La Baracca
Since 1986/87 season, La Baracca, with the collaboration of the Municipality of Bologna, has been developing the project “Ilteatro e il nido” (Theatre and crèche), a project dedicated to children under 36 months that attend the “Nidid’infanzia”, the public educational institutions for children 0-3. A research that the company kept developing through the years, and that involved and involves artists, pedagogues and teachers. It is from this experience that Small size projects and “Visioni di futuro, visioni di teatro” were born. An experience that allowed La Baracca to produce 37 shows for children between 1 and 3 years, created by following different approaches of mise en scene. The shows created can be really different one from the other: some of them, the ones that are best known abroad, are rich in body images, or focused on the artistic research on theatre and light, while other ones are full of words, surreal and passionate narration, funny and romantic stories.

“Spot”, directed by Roberto Frabetti was featured in Tifli-2015 in Delhi & Hyderabad
